Coffee Course: Using and Cleaning the Coffee Maker

Responsibilities: Instructional Designer, eLearning Developer, Voiceover Artist, Animator, Video Editor, Audio Editor, Graphic Designer

Tools used: Storyline 360, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Vyond, Camtasia, Audacity

Client: Food Service Department, Casey’s General Stores

Audience: Kitchen employees

Overview + Challenge: The Food Service department revamped product flavors and coffee machines. The training solution needed to reach 3,000 employees in 16 states.

Solution: I created this course to train store employees on cleaning and maintaining coffee machines and new flavor profiles. Previously employees were trained using a long, complicated technical document that lacked imagery. I filmed all the steps involved and then carefully curated a video playlist that covered all the necessary steps in a visually engaging way. The animation was layered with real-life video elements for a playful result. I created custom graphics in Illustrator that were used both in the course and in job aids to support the user after the course. Job aids were strategically placed in the employee break room and near coffee preparation areas.
